About ‘ring’ video

The empty space and the repeated circle …The circle is like it ‘cuts down’ the background(the empty, without shape background) and creates a new form through its shape and harmony… It gives to space hypostasis…
the circle due to its specific ‘closed’ shape , transforms the space into an interior and exterior outline..someone can choose which is the interior and which is the exterior , but the question is if there is a difference between the outline of the exterior and interior …between in and out,full and empty …

Through my video work I try to ‘record’ the meaning and the ‘image’ that void might has. Moreover, I try to show the quality of empty space and its value..I defined void taking in mind its abstract image ,its ‘controlled’, chaotic motion , sound , tension and substance’s transformation into something else. other times I achieve this by mixing a variety of materials, with the use of human presence or voice.. each one of the videos presents different concepts but the central idea remains the same, this one which defines what an empty space is

About ‘split down the middle’ video

I was wearing a quiet broad white cloth and tried to make minimal movements in the space. I want to split the image in two pieces in order to have two different effects. Like moving between negative and positive space…
So, lets say that the positive space is the space occupied by the subject.negative space is the space that is not the subject.In other words in my video work the figure-cloth is the positive space and its surrounding is the negative space.By reversing the negative and the positive space of the frame , the relation between the full and void remains the same . It doesn’t depend on the colour or the position that the object has.
It is Something more like a composition which ‘works’ as a balance between the positive and the negative.Now, the negative space has shapes. These shapes have substance or mass. Negative space is not just the absence of something. It has weight and mass, and plays an important role in defining the subject.So, once again in this video I am ’swaying’ between full and void -existence and non existence… (like what is happening in Escher’s works) I call this video’ split down the middle’

About ‘burning wire’ video

In my video work the empty space is not quite visible. Every time it is filled with something else. This is the way I view an empty space. It’s always full and positive, like another kind of presence. In ‘burning wire’ video the central theme is fire.

In my point of view there are two types of fire. On the one hand is the fire as a physical phenomenon and on the other hand is the ‘imaginary’ almost ‘hypnotic’ fire. By using the term ‘imaginary’ and ‘hypnotic’ I mean that there is an effect (some kind of illusion) which is being developed after the eye is long exposed to the fire. When we turn our eyes from it, the eye has kept the image of the fire. At this point, fire doesn’t have a specific shape or a predictable movement.

Fire is the element which is being ‘fed’ from matter, destroys matter and also transforms matter into light and energy.
